Neurological Physiotherapy

Are you looking for neurological physiotherapy treatments in Mississauga? Our experts at Dun-Dix Healthcare Clinic are proud to offer the most up-to-date and innovative treatments that can help anyone struggling with neurological problems.

What Exactly Is Neurological Physical Therapy?

Rehabilitation for those with neurological problems is a focus of neurological physiotherapy.

Problems affecting the brain, spinal cord, or peripheral nerves are referred to as neurological disorders. The physical functions of affected individuals, such as mobility, muscular strength, range of motion, and balance, may be compromised. For that reason, neurological physical therapy can help treat and manage these conditions long-term for patients in Mississauga.

The best clinic to get your custom orthotics! I’m a nurse and work countless hours on my feet and I’ve been wearing the orthotics from this location for a good while now and they make all the difference.

I’ve had shoulder pain since a car accident I experienced a few years ago and I had gone to physio for a while until I decided to stop my treatment. Recently I had been noticing that my shoulder is getting worse again so I decided to go to this clinic for some help. I am really glad I did. The physio services they offer were better than any i’ve had before and they actually provided me with the exercises to do on my own so I can keep working on the recovery of my shoulder at home. Overall im really happy and would recommend this clinic to anyone in the area.

How Does Neurological Physiotherapy Work?

As was previously established, the goal of neuro physiotherapy is to assist in the rehabilitation of physical deficits brought on by neurological diseases. It is customised with a goal-oriented focus and is made to meet the unique demands of each person. For instance, the patient has to learn how to walk again. Or are there little, precise actions that need to be corrected? On the first appointment, neurologically educated physiotherapists at Dun-Dix Healthcare Clinic will make this determination.

Neuroplasticity is the ability of the brain to both lose and make new connections. Because it makes use of this phenomena, neuro physiotherapy differs from conventional physiotherapy in that it aids in the formation of new synaptic connections in the brain. In essence, it rewires the brain so that it can learn or relearn skills and activities.

Advantages Of Physical Therapy For Neurological Rehabilitation

Physical therapy for neurological rehabilitation uses therapeutic exercises and activities to stimulate the nervous system while assisting you in learning new movement patterns. The best cardiovascular function, strength, mobility, balance, and general coordination are improved via individualized treatment regimens that are tailored to your condition or injury. Physiotherapists assist you in making the most of your present abilities and provide guidance on how to adapt your living and working environment to enable safe, effective, and independent living. Benefits might consist of:

Heightened Strength

Muscles that have been weakened by your ailment or injury are strengthened via muscular movement training. Physiotherapists may concentrate on improving range of motion and muscular control as well as controlling or reducing spasticity when muscles continuously contract.

Long-Term Perseverance

Your ability to walk independently, on various surfaces, and for a range of activities may be improved with the use of gait training or retraining. Mobility aids may sometimes be used to improve balance, posture, and ease of movement. Teaching patients how to use these tools properly may be part of physiotherapy therapies.

Improved Balance

Your stability and confidence when walking and engaging in daily activities will increase as a result of balance training. Falling and associated injuries are less likely to happen when balance is improved.

How Does Neurological Physiotherapy Fit The Patient's Needs?

When posture has to be corrected or a patient needs to relearn how to walk, stand, or sit if the damage is severe, neuro physiotherapy may be done one-on-one. In order to foster a more welcoming atmosphere and make rehabilitation more fun, additional exercises like walking and mild exercises may also be carried out in groups.

Simple passive exercises or specially designed activities to improve strength and coordination are just the beginning of neurophysiotherapy. To help joints recuperate, limb positioning or splints may be advised depending on the severity of motor dysfunction. In certain circumstances, mobility aids, such as a walking frame or specialized wheelchair, may be required, along with instruction on how to use them.

Every case of neuro physiotherapy requires regular repetition of the exercises prescribed by certified neurological physiotherapists in the clinic and at home to prevent a decline in muscle tone and motor function. Simple “at-home” workouts or regular clinic visits when patients participate in individualized or group activities are a few of them.

The success of rehabilitation will rely on the severity of the brain injury or impairment and how soon neuro physiotherapy is started. Additionally, the impacted person’s attitude or willingness is also essential to success. Family members and caregivers should participate equally in the procedure to guarantee that neurophysiotherapy is administered both at home and in the clinic as well as to boost the patient’s spirits.
